Reflection takes place incidentally throughout the learning. Review sessions may also be planned at the end of a sequence of work. The purpose is to encourage students towards self-determination, to encourage responsibility for their own learning, to enable them to see the value in the learning that has taken place, to understand what makes things challenging and also worth the effort. Through reflection students acquire new learning skills; they learn how to learn. They also learn how to identify personal learning goals.
